What to Do?

Written July 10, 1999

What can I say
To someone feeling down?
What good deed can I do
To turn around their frown?

Should I just smile and say
That I know how it's been?
Should I say "It's not too late,
If you try, you'll still win"?

A smile is contagious,
A laugh's easily passed.
Cheerfulness is a virtue
That catches on fast.

There's nothing as nice
As someone who is loving,
Who's not bashful at all
About encouraging hugging.

So when someone's sad
And they're looking quite blue,
I'll just smile, hug, and say,
"I care about you."
