True Friend

Written June 4th, 1998

I've found my true Friend
The One who won't betray my trust
He'll always be there for me
Even after I return to the dust

I've found my true Friend
I've finally been able to find
A friend with whom I can share
Any thought that enters my mind

Every time I'd thought I'd found someone
I would realize how shallow they are
But now I can end my once-fruitless search
And stop wishing on that star

I finally ended my futile search
I've found the one true Friend
I know I need Him more than life
For this reason, my heart won't bend

I have One to share my heart's joys with
And talk the night away
He'll help me through life's thrills and chills
He's someone who will stay

Shallowness runs rampant among the world
And true depth is hard to find
His loyalty and trust have become to me
More than figments of my mind

He will share my life with me
Help me learn and to adjust
To all the conflicts I may face
And keep my heart from rust

Jesus is my true Friend.
