Taste of Love

Written February 10th, 1998

Love is full
Of little surprises
Whether good or bad
They always come unexpectedly

I can always sit back
And reflect upon
These hors d'oeuvres of life
Savoring the delectable taste of some
And remembering not to
Reacquaint myself with
The bitter tidbits of misfortunate others.

Yes, love can be bitter,
Or tangy ,
Or spicy with a slightly unpleasant aftertaste.

But then again,
If there was no adventure in love
That exciting prospect
Of trying something new!
What would be the point
Of fighting for it?

I must admit,
I've never heard
Of food being fought for
But love is something
That must be won
And fight we will
For a chance to share
In the sweet and savory taste of victory
Even if it may be followed
By many more
Odysseys to the land of discovery
Of what love is REALLY about
