Written October 23rd, 1998
The trees reach out from every side
Surrounding, entangling me in their aloof embrace
Caring for me, entertaining my exhausted eyes
Sighing encouragingly,
"A few steps more, my child,
Home is not far off."
They rustle their leafy clusters,
Rooting me on in my struggle,
Waving their seasonal colors with cheers.
Drawing me forward magnetically
Up into the mountains of victory.
