Written July 28th, 1998
Skipping carefree
Over treacherous ground
Never worrying about the danger
Until a misstep
Causes a break
In the fragile frame
Of a small innocent child
Yet this child regains
Its composure
Healing rapidly
Growing quickly into a young adult
Bones toughening
Becoming more accustomed to
The falls
The tripping comes less often
But still quite frequently
Old age brings a wiseness
And weakness returns to the skeleton
Yet tumbling rarely happens
Though when it does
The frame shatters
And has difficulty with repairs
....so it is with the heart
