Written April 18, 1998
Grandma brings the apple pie
Aunt Toni brings potatoes and cheese
My brother brings himself to the table
And stuffs his face with everything he sees
My mother cooks up a juicy ham
Which my dad then carves into slices
Uncle Gene savors each succulent bite
Of tender meat seasoned with spices
Uncle Andy fights with my sister
For sole control of the TV remote
When he finally wins and turns on the ball game
My mom calmly hands him his coat
After the hubbub and commotion is over
I sit down to relax for a while
And pick up a pen to write a verse about Easter
That would maybe make someone smile
